The Road Apples

Following are some of the Road Apples’ recordings that I was able to gather from various sources, e.g., old cassettes transferred to digital, reel-to-reel tapes, and other media files saved on various platforms over the years. So the quality is somewhat uneven.

Most songs were recorded with the original lineup:

  • David Finnerty, vocals and guitar
  • Flip Morse, vocals and guitar
  • Bard Richmond, vocals and bass
  • Jean-Do Sifantus, drums
  • Chuck Eisenhart, keyboards

Wally Baier eventually replaced Chuck on keyboards and Michael Walsh replaced Bard on bass.

All songs were written by David Finnerty (Fin), except for On My Knees, which was written by Flip Morse. Except for the live ones, the recordings were done in various studios in Boston, such as Music Designers near Berklee or Intermedia. Unfortunately, the details are rather foggy nowadays.

Several were part of a demo we did before shopping around for labels. At the end of the sessions, Fin insisted we play through a song he had just written the night before so he could have it on tape. We did so in a single take. And this is the basic track that was used to release Let’s Live Together. David Kershenbaum, the producer, added more instrumentation, including some guitar by Steve Cropper and a horn section. But the original rythm section track and vocals were kept.
